We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

How are you preparing for the show?

I will be exhibiting my artwork at Surtex for the first time this May. My portfolio specializes in kitchen & home, travel, everyday objects, animals, Christmas, and juvenile themes. Some of my new collections include Hit the Trail, Christmas Crackers, and Jungle Friends. I love creating pieces with vibrant colors that are full of motifs and elements. With over seven years experience as a product designer, I understand the product development process as well as how to research and interpret trends in the marketplace. I look forward to working with manufacturers in the gift, paper, bolt fabric, and children’s markets.

About

Patterned_Peacock_Profile_ImageI earned my BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University. I started my creative career as an in-house designer at a company that produces giftwrap and stationery. This job was my introduction to the world of surface pattern design and I knew I had found my niche. But life threw in some twists and turns.

After some time living abroad and then a few years working as a children’s shoe designer, I decided to start my own company, The Patterned Peacock. I launched my own line of bright and colorful limited edition prints and paper goods before branching out into the world of licensing. My first deal saw my artwork on a Magnet Works Drinkblots™ coaster set.
