London Design Festival is here and what a great opportunity it is to get inspired by the many events and shows taking place across the capital. Even if you can’t make it in person, there is so much to take in and look at on the web, we thought we’d share some highlights with you.

Design Junction showcases the best in contemporary furniture, lighting and product design from around the world in an industrial setting, creating a great alternative to the traditional trade show. Design Junction is often host to smaller, cutting-edge labels as well as the big International brands. You can enjoy street-food, ice cream parlours, pop up shops and seminars, while you check out the brands and enjoy the whole experience.

 – London College of Communication hosts a programme of design-related exhibitions and events celebrating 100 years of poster design, 50 years of illustration and 10 years of Stereohype’s button badge series.

For those aspiring to see their products and designs in major retailers, you may be interested in the Design Museum exhibition: John Lewis 150 Years. John Lewis has been an integral part of the British high street for 150 years, becoming one of the UK’s most influential retailers. This exhibition explores the design stories behind a range of current and past products they sell and how they have shaped our lives. jl

Also running, is 100% Design – officially the biggest and longest running contemporary design event in the UK, with 27,088 visitors in 2013. First staged in 1995, the show celebrates its 20th edition with designers from the world over. Here is a video from Max Frazer as he talks about the highlights as well as his experience of the selection process for entries (hint: wine is involved!)
