We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2015 show taking place on May 17 – 19, 2015 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

We are delighted to share with you previews of the talented designers showing at Surtex on the Make it in Design blog – enjoy!

How are you preparing for the show?

This is my first time exhibiting at SURTEX! I‘ve walked the show in the past to get an idea of the energy there, and to see how everyone’s hard work comes together! I think it’s important to be able to see the booths from a buyer/manufacturers perspective too, in order to make sure your art and booth stand out to them as much as possible.

Overall,  my main focus preparing for the show has been to create collections, because SURTEX is a large investment and you want to be sure to have a comfortable amount of artwork to show there.

Staying positive is really important as well. It’s a lot of hard work preparing to exhibit but it’s also exciting to think of the possible relationships that can be made at the show!
