2.AmyMcCoy Cheery Flowers Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“I have been away from making art for years and years, and didn’t know thing one about how to import art into the computer (sad!) or how to work with Photoshop to create designs. Having been away from art for so long, I had also lost sight of my own style, and while it took me a bit of time to regain it, I’m certain it was a faster process than if I’d done it all on my own because of the coursework, the mark making exercises, the analysis of patterns that I’m drawn to, determining the colors that I love – AND the very handy Photoshop tutorials. It was like training wheels at first, but now I feel confident in my abilities, and know it can only improve from here”– Amy McCoy| Website

3.AnetteHeiberg Valentine Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“I’ve always thought creating repeat patterns and patterns with overlapping elements was something very difficult to master, but this course taught me how to do it in an easy way. Now I am finally able to design the types of patterns I have dreamed of’ – Annette Heiberg| Website

4.AnneLehman Floral Bouquet Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

‘I believe the most powerful element that I learned in this course was to really explore and develop my own style. I enjoyed the practice of creating different moodboards, which helped me to focus on my style and color choices and then carry them into my designs’– Anne Lehman | Website

5.AxelleValentin sailorknot Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“I was not sure to have a style, but after playing with different mark making techniques during the course, I knew that drawing by hand first, scanning and coloring on Illustrator was definitively my favorite technique.

The most useful exercise was to collect patterns I like and see why and how I can define my style…”- Axelle Valentin| Website

6.Emma Devereux Cats and Fish Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“I’ve loved every minute of the course.  It’s reminded me how much I love drawing and designing and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

It’s also shown me how important it is to improve my technical/computer skills and this is something I hope to work on” – Emma Devereux|

7.Emma Jenkins Classical Roses Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“Besides the incredible supportive community, the most powerful element of the course itself for me was the pattern love moodboard.  It was a real insight into what sort of pattern I love to surround myself with and draw inspiration from, giving me direction for my own work” – Emma Jenkins | Website

8.Fatima Al gharaibeh Pineapple skin Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“Attending ABSPD M1 helped me mostly in finding inspiration, opening my eyes to everything around, and infuse inspirations with my inner feelings to make beautiful patterns” – Fatima Al-gharaibeh | Facebook | Society 6

9.Gail Myerscough Retro floral Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“I studied Surface Pattern Design at University in the early 1990s when all work was hand drawn and computers were rarely used.

I had always wanted to re-train and this course was the perfect way to do so. Module 1 of The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design has been a revelation to me and helped enormously by teaching me how to design using a computer. I feel more inspired than I have for a long time and look forward to Module 2”- Gail Myerscough | Website

10.Gloria Budz Graphic Floral Splash Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (January 2015 class)

“ The Module 1 class was more than I could have ever hoped for. The format was loaded with valuable information that I will take away with me and refer back to again and again. The group of artists were also so incredibly supportive of each other, instead of treating each other like competition. I met people from all over the world”- Gloria Budz
