Pattern course showcase part 1 – Module 2 (Aug 2013 class)

We are really pleased to showcase the beautiful work from our very talented Module 2 students of ‘The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design (the e-course) who took the course in August 2013. Here are more of our fantastic students & the work they have created over the 5 weeks in class.

Linda Tordoff - Chalk Hill

“I would say the best thing about Module 2 has been its made me really love the idea of having my own brand. I’ve started a blog, set up Paintlove Studio, and I’ve learnt so much about branding that I’d never even considered before. The course has been so inspiring and informative and has given me the confidence to start setting up my business.” – Linda Tordoff, Paintlove Studio.
Chynna-Brown---Pastel-Echo-550px“I feel that the course has taught me a lot more about the business side of Surface Pattern design which I wasn’t taught at University. I feel that this along with the tutorials has really given me the confidence to pursue this career, so a big thank you to everyone! I’m also really looking forward to Module 3.” – Chynna Brown

“The most powerful element of Module 2 was probably “Trends” in weeks 2 & 3. I’ve always found trends a bit daunting, whether it be researching them or following them. I was totally in the dark at predicting them that’s for sure. After week 3 I felt I had a better understanding of the whole magical process. The information provided in class definitely made me more aware of the powers at work around us all on a daily basis. It’s actually lots of fun!” – Leah Lovering Jack

Gavin-Rutherford---Autumn-Arrows-(Low-res)

“For me one of the most powerful parts of the course was getting the chance to create product mock-ups. Working on and seeing applications for my patterns helped open my eyes to what was possible and allowed me to design work with commercial uses in mind.” – Gavin Rutherford

Victoria-McTavish---Geo-01-Auto

“I’ve loved all aspects of module two, brilliantly balanced with creative exercises and clear professional advice on how to get your work out into ‘the big wide world’. Each module continues to exceed my expectations and at last I feel like I’m getting closer to my dream! Thank you so much.” – Victoria McTavish

Nandita-Singh--Indian Charm-1-1

” Whatever I am today, it’s only because of this e-course… ” – Nandita Singh

Laurence LavalleeSHOES - LOW

“The most powerful element from module 2 for me was the importance of showing my work through social media and how to get my design out there to attract attention. It gave me direction and helped me build a stronger brand identity that reflects my personality. Thank you for the brilliant course! I am now ready for Module 3.” – Laurence Lavallee – FLO Design

Gina Maldonado - I ♥ my onesie LQ

“I’m really happy I took this course as it has help me to push myself out of my comfort zone and grow as a designer. The community of fellow designers has been very supportive and they’re always ready with a kind word or helpful advice.” – Gina Maldonado

“I feel that I have really changed and matured as a designer through completing Module 2. The course has given me the courage to explore and develop my own particular viewpoints in design whilst building up a sound knowledge of the industry itself. I am definitely developing a style and a voice through my work. Something I never thought I would achieve. Module 2 has given me the power to further pursue my dream.” – Lindsay Buck of Slumbermonkey Designs
