We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

How are you preparing for the show?

This is my first time showing my work at Surtex. I have been creating much more work for my portfolio and trying to re-organize my existing artwork. There is a lot of prep work that needs to be done. As well as, promotional work and sourcing things needed for the booth and the physical portfolio, there is also travel and hotel arrangements to be made, researching companies and finding contact information, learning about contracts and pricing and so much more. I’m hoping to come home with a more complete contacts list and some very good leads that will become licensing deals. I’m going to Surtex as part of the Cultivate Art Collective
