Surtex 2015 Preview: Gabriella Buckingham

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

How are you preparing for the show?

I have been working 7 days a week since January juggling client work with creating a whole new portfolio sharing works in progress on Instagram using relevant hash tags … you never know who may be looking! There’s a site in the US called PAOM ( Print all over me) from which I have ordered some items with my patterns on.. so if they turn out well I could be wearing some of my designs at the show. I have had a few patterns printed on fabric and will be making a couple of characters come to life in 3D form if all goes to plan. This is my first time showing at Surtex.

About

I have been an illustrator, designer and painter since I left college in the early 90’s working both as a freelancer, in house designer and product manager. I have illustrated hundreds of greeting cards, several children’s books and started my career in decorative editorial illustration. In 2008 I set up Moobaacluck my cute inspired hand painted gifts and stationery business and sell through notonthehighstreet and craft fairs in East Anglia. Now I am also branching out into surface pattern and textile design. I paint in our garden summerhouse in North Norfolk where I live with my husband, two children and rabbit.
