“The amount of information provided in this course was amazing! I have so much valuable resource material that I can always refer to, along with 3 months access to WGSN! Priceless! Interviews with successful designers, coupled with diverse live briefs and a book full of contacts! Well worth the investment!” – Kevin Brackley| Website

“It has been a colourful journey with so much information and exposure to the world of pattern. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Now I can go back and use all the guidelines to set up my own business step by step. Most of all I can visualise my products  in the shops and know so much better what I want to achieve.. .it was a very constructive course”

– Lise Stephens|

“Module 3 has really helped me focus on whether I want to sell outright or license, and got me thinking about exhibiting at trade shows and approaching buyers. It’s been the push I needed to take me to the next level”

– Emma McGowan | Website

“The business content is very valuable now and for my future business plans. And the online community was such a pleasure to be part of.”

Cathrin Gressieker| Website

“This course really focused my mind on the business aspect of surface pattern design and made me do something I had never done before – a non floral pattern! Thank you for pushing me both creatively and professionally. A great module”.

– Christine Gardner| Website

“Marc Jacobs once said “I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect – they are much more interesting”

The make it in design course is making it possible for this to become my reality. It has given me confidence to soar to new heights that I hadn’t even dreamed possible. The support from not only the Make it in design team but also the really wonderful and talented designers on the Facebook group is simply inspiring”.

“Since doing the ABSPD course, I have gained so much more confidence as a designer, not only from the wealth of information that allows you to work towards your goals, instead of just dreaming about them, but also from the amazing online support from the group. This really wasn’t something I had expected. The whole thing is a real game changer”.

– Sarah Braithwaite | Website

“Once again I have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of this module and have generally found the whole course so inspiring, full of information and just a very fun supportive course to do. I definitely feel, thanks to ABSPD, that I am heading in the right direction”.

Sarah Fowlis |

“Even though I’m not quite ready to launch my business, Module 3 has given me a vast amount of knowledge that will enable me to make informed decisions about what I want to do as I move forward. The Facebook Group has been such a fun, safe place to find support and inspiration.  The whole experience has been wonderful”.

  1. When I made my first illustrations in Danish Design School I used a lot of patterns to create the surface. I realised it is so much fun. When I read and heard about Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design class I felt definitly I would like to join to this network. I like to work in international groups and I think there are more power woring together with different people with different visual backgrounds as working alone. I would like to create my own professional portfolio and to develope my business skills to be able to create my own business in the future.
