Pattern design showcase part 1 – Module 1 (September 2015 class)

Here at Make it in Design we are on the countdown to the start of a new term of classes which commence February 1 with Module 1: Designing Your Way and Module 2: Creating your Professional Identity. Therefore we are really pleased to introduce part 1 of our 4-part showcase of the beautiful work from our very talented Module 1 students of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design who took the course in September 2015. Here are some of our wonderful students and the work they have created over the 5 weeks in class.

1.'Maureen-Quinn---Matilda1'

“The most powerful element of the course for me is that I feel I can relate to the course, it is such a friendly learning environment and it gives you the freedom to find your way but with all the information and backing that you need when you need it.

I want to do a job that I love but at the same time I would like to make a career for myself and earn money, the course is showing me that this is possible if you work hard enough and the added bonus is that you are being taught by current designers who know the industry well. I feel I have come far in such a short time which I believe is down to me being happy with all aspects of the course. Can’t wait for Module 2”.

4.Alice-De-Marco-Butterfly

“I attended the first Module of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design because I was intrigued by the world of the Surface Pattern Design, but I didn’t know where to start. I would like to reinforce my personal style and I would like to know how to use it in this sector.

This course gave me the courage to work hard and to find the energy of my mark (sign) and to let it run wild on the paper!

I think that the success of a wonderful career start all from here”.

8.Anda Avramescu-Poppy Waves

“It’s thanks to this course that I entered the surface pattern design world I dreamed about for the last two years. It helped me achive a global vision of it and the first important tools, technical and not, to create motifs. How to create a good sketchbook and find colours that most suites me was a revelation. And if all this was possible it is also thanks to my classmates, a supportive and inspiring group to be part of! Very happy I did this course and can’t wait for Module 2 and 3”.

9.ANDREA_CURTIS

“As an artist this course has given me confidence to explore my own style of working and not to constantly compare my work to others. Being able to post work in the secure environment of the Facebook page was also great as it encouraged me to put my work ‘out there’ – something I wouldn’t normally do”.

11.Belen-Monllau---Rambito

“The most powerful element this course provided for me was the small briefs for creating patterns for specific products or with an specific design, that really gave me confidence on how to develop designs for different markets, as I was always towards the textile industry because of my degree in fashion and textile design.

Nevertheless, the whole course was a great tool to give me the confidence and experience I needed in order to start reaching out there, showing my portfolio, showing what I can do and reach for potential clients”.
