“The course has tied together all of my artistic skills and enabled me to recognize my own style. I’ve been able to creatively use my new and old artwork together in Photoshop and Illustrator. I can’t stop making designs”.

20.Darlene Seale -Oaxacan-Mercado-Birds

“Thanks so much for such a great course!  I discovered a whole new drawing style by learning to just doodle and sketch freely.  Also, by learning that most of Rachael’s designs are NOT technical repeats I’m starting to design more placement prints without worrying about repeats”.

22.Drew Llewellyn - Bohemian Flower garden

“The guidance and support from Rachel and the MIID online community have helped me gain so much more confidence as a designer – Such creative freedom – I feel unleashed. Who would have thought that it could change so much in such a short space of time. I cannot wait for the next module”.

23.Elaine Collins - Autumn Fern

“Being on this course, was the opening up of finding who I am in the design world! I have learnt so much as I was a complete beginner and feel that by the end of this module I can submit my designs to clients and can’t believe the steps forward I have taken; even having my designs sold on-line! Thank you for inspiring, teaching and supporting me”.

24.FeenaBrooks-UnicornDreams

“ABSPD Module 1 has consolidated all my previous learning and experience into one big, exciting opportunity to take my work in a new direction and realize my dream to become a surface pattern designer. It has reminded me how much I truly LOVE every aspect of the design process”.

25.hannah-smith---spring-tulips

“This course has demonstrated that individuality prevails and making something unique, although it may not be perfect to us, is special in it’s own right”.

Hannah Smith | Website

26.Hannah-Wells-_-Sketchy-Geometrics

The fact that the course has been online and take at your own pace has been fantastic for me.  I needed to give myself creative space and time to work on getting back to basics, inspiration, drawing techniques and discovering my personal style. The Facebook group has been very supportive and inspirational.

27.Helen Russell Creations - Blob Bird Christmas wrapping paper

“The course has been fantastic for helping me focus on where I want my business to go, and I have been introduced to new techniques and skill sets that I know will be invaluable. The bonus skills workshops have already saved me hours of precious worktime through the keyboard shortcuts I have learnt! Thank you it’s been great.”

“The most important element of the course for me….

The Bonus technical workshops – absolute necessity for me!

The community Facebook page – they are a lovely warm group and I can’t imagine being without them now”.

30.JAMIE-NIEBERGALL---CITRUS-CRANBERRY-SAUCE

“The most powerful element of the course for me was all of the different exercises that required me to work outside of my comfort zone. I now have a better idea of what I am drawn to, what inspires me, and who I am as a designer”.

Jamie Niebergall | Website

31.Jennifer-Speer-Nuts-and-Seeds

“I’m so glad that I decided to come back and take the Module 1 Course. Before it began I felt overwhelmed by all the types of designs out there and unsure of where I might fit, but now I feel much more comfortable about what my personal style is”.

Jennifer Speer | Website

32.Jessica-Baldry-trees-v5

“There have been many aspects of the course which I have really enjoyed, but for me, the most valuable of these has to be the advice given on finding your own style. For some time now, I’ve been too reluctant to draw in fear of finding out that my drawings may not look as good as I want them to be. The exercises set each week gave me permission to be experimental and to not limit myself by worrying about the end result. As a result I feel much more motivated to pick up my sketchbook and just simply draw what inspires me. This is helping me develop my own style and has also provided me with lots more material to create patterns from! Thanks to this course I’ve realized that imperfections in my sketches are what make them unique and are definitely not something to be afraid of”.

33.JoanneTubman---Fall-Splendor

“Sketching does not come easy for me, but this module 1 course has really helped me loosen up and just trust myself when drawing shapes. I am still working on my confident in drawing shapes but I am well on my way to becoming confident as a result of taking this course”.

Joanne Tubman |

34.Julie-Watson---Bradgate

“This course has been so valuable to me in the way that I have had to learn to embrace the digital side of design such as learning how to use Illustrator, finding support amongst other creatives on facebook and using the web as a resource in so many ways”.
