Pattern design showcase part 3 – Module 3 (Sept 2015 class)

Today we bring you part 3 and the final part our showcase of the gorgeous work from our talented Module 3 students of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design who took the course in September 2015. Here are some of our talented students and the work they have created over the 5 weeks in class.

21.Ruth-Waterhouse-Green-Forest-low

“The most powerful elements of the course were, the information, the advice as well as the community of designers in the Facebook group that have given me the confidence to explore the possibilities of my designs”.

22.Sarah Irlam. Venezian Toile

“This course was exactly what I was looking for. I needed to learn how to use Illustrator & Photoshop to be able to get back into design (for some reason I thought I wouldn’t need these skills when I was studying at University!) This course focuses on the skills that are specifically useful to surface pattern design unlike other computer courses which can be heavy and dull. The course is so positive and fresh & the content is extremely useful”.

23.Sarah_Atkins_Daisies_lowres

“The most powerful part of the course for me has been understanding the different revenue streams available to earn money from my designs.  I have always been held back not only by a lack of self-confidence, but also by the inner voice that tells me I couldn’t possibly earn a living being creative and having so much fun!  This is the beginning of something big for me and I thank you for showing me the way forward”.

25.Stacey-Liddall_Salma_Lo-res

“The most powerful element of module three has been the invaluable information on the different ways of selling your art work and making a living from it. Thanks to the course my understanding of the area has widened, I can start to visualize the possibilities that can be achieved”.

26.Tania Margarido_ballons lowres

“Module 3 was an extremely valuable course as it allowed me to understand the different routes possible to sell my patterns but above all helped me understanding which one was the most appropriate for me. On top of that the designer community is always so supportive which makes the whole journey even more pleasant and enriching”.

27.TRACY-BEAGEN_PAISLEY-TOSS_1

“The most powerful element of this course was learning about the business and how to run your own.  There are so many little details, as well as options that you do not necessarily think about, and Rachael and Beth have taught that beautifully.  After taking this course, I truly feel ready to have run my business successfully, and I am excited to get my name out there as a designer”.

28.ValentinaCompagnoni_Pine01_

“”The strong element of the course is its completeness and the preciousness of the information and a clear methodology of the project of teaching that it has followed me footstep for footstep. The course has finally given me the opportunity to follow the intuition, I had years ago, to express my designer’s abilities in the fantastic world of surface pattern”.

“I was thrilled last summer when I found out about Make it in Design and your educational partnership with PrintsourceNY.  Perfect timing as I was beyond ready to breathe fresh oxygen into my dormant textile and surface design business.  I found Mod 3: Monetizing Your Designs a superior course jam packed with expert insight and technical guidance, for me the Business Development and Planning section tied all of the modules together and I am very happily chipping away at tasks and planning for a soft launch of my “refresh” next spring”.

30.PATRICIA_BRAUNE_MAGNOLIA_STORY_1

“Thank you for an amazing course, the information in Module 3 was priceless and unique, Rachael’s personal insight into the industry of Surface Pattern Design bridges the gap between a designer and an industry aware Surface Pattern Designer”.
