  5. Generative Expand will now expand your image to create more space for you to work with.

GENERATIVE FILL

  1. Select the Lasso tool and draw in the space that you want to add an object.
  2. Go to the new task bag, click Generative Fill and type in the object you want to add.
  3. You will receive 3 options initially. If you are unsure or would prefer another option click Generate again and more options will come up.

TIPS

  • Pinning the new Photoshop 2024 task bar is super handy as otherwise it jumps around the screen.
  • Currently expand and fill are working at low resolution so keep that in mind to not go too large on images or zoomed in on objects.
  • Generative Fill will sometimes take several generations to find a good option.
  • Our top tip for Generative Fill is to draw vaguely the shape of what you want to add.
  • The new Generative tools come with really handy pop up tips so keep an eye out for them.
  • The more specific you are with your prompts for Generative Fill the better the options.
  • Generative Fill is such a great tool for filling out product photography when you don’t have access to lots of props and you can really individualise the product image.

We encourage you to experiment with the tool and see what you think! We’d love to see your results on socials. Tag @makeitindesign #makeitindesign.
