How to create a morphing effect in Adobe Illustrator. Looking for new ways to make your designs dynamic and fun? This is the effect for you!
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Create your shape, duplicate it and make the second shape smaller.
- Select both shapes and go to Window> Pathfinder.
- In the drop down menu in the top right of the Pathfinder palette choose Make Compound Shape.
- Now go to Window> Appearance.
- Click the effects menu (fx) at the bottom of the Appearance palette and go to Path > Offset Path.
- Add your measurement and choose Round in the drop down menu and click OK.
- Go to Path > Offset Path again and when the pop up comes up click Apply New Effect.
- This time put a minus (-) before your dimension but choose Round again in the droop down menu and click OK.
- With the Direct Selection Tool you can now move your shapes around with a morphing effect.
TIPS:
- This effect can be created with other shapes and even outlined fonts.
- This effect looks best with a gradient but also works with solid colour.
- You can duplicate the shapes and resize them to add even more movement.
