Wakefield based Textile Designer and Screen Printer Laura Slater has been nominated for this year’s, New Talent Etsy Awards. Laura is currently in the running to win £10,000 business development prize in the peoples choice awards.
Laura has been establishing her independent textile design business, making textiles for the home, since graduating from the Royal College of Art, returning to Yorkshire from London in 2008.
Laura’s work is hand screen printed and finished in her studio based at the Art House in Wakefield, selling her work across a host of galleries and design shop in the UK including The Hepworth Wakefield, YSP, and Heals.
We were also lucky enough to feature a Designer Diary with Laura in MOYO issue 8 which you can check out here.
Colour, pattern drawing and mark making are key focuses in Laura’s unique approach to design, making her a standout new talent in the interior’s and design market.
‘Being shortlisted for the Etsy Awards in it’s self is an honor and very exciting. The impact of winning a business development fund would allow me to realise some of the bigger ideas I have that are limited somewhat to investment, a unbelievable opportunity’.
Voting Closes Midnight 6th June 2016.
