New Designers 2016

Labelled as ‘The UK’s most important exhibition for emerging design‘, New Designers 2016 held at the Business Design Centre, London, UK this June and July is destined to be another fantastic event bursting with creativity from up-coming stars – and Make it in Design is proud to be a part of this show!

Now in it’s 31st year, the New Designers show is an annual event that delivers new generations of brilliant creative individuals. Emerging designers showcase their talent in the hope to be recruited, gain valuable exposure through the attending media, connect with other designers, experience exhibiting at a trade show and talking to potential clients and so much more.

The show is split into two parts, each covering different design disciplines. Make it in Design will be exhibiting in Part 1 of the show (June 29 – July 2, 2016) which focuses on textiles and fashion, ceramics and glass, contemporary design crafts, jewellery and precious metalwork and costume design.

The Make it in Design team have secured stand A10 which is in a fantastic position near to the cafe on the first floor!

We are so excited to be able to talk to the emerging talent of today and share all of the fantastic resources, acclaimed courses and exciting opportunities we offer that can provide a solid foundation for a successful career as a surface pattern designer.

We’ll also be on the look out for great new talent to feature in our future issues of MOYO – our wildly popular surface pattern magazine which has received over 2.6 million views since it launched!

Most of all, the team are looking forward to meeting all visitors and exhibitors at the show, which include; college and university tutors, big name brands, established designers, students, media and many more to simply say hello! The Design Trust Start Up Day

Rachael will be joining The Design Trust’s Start Up Day on Thursday June 30, 2016 – a full, information-packed speaker event for recent design and craft graduates during the first week of New Designers which runs from 10.30am – 4.30pm. The Design Trust have invited some very successful creatives and experts to take the stage who will each be sharing their trade secrets with you.

Rachael will be taking part in two presentations: Her first starts at 2pm titled ’20 things you need to know about becoming a professional surface pattern designer’. Following immediately after will be a Q&A discussion with Rachael and the award-winning textile designer Ella Doran hosted by Patricia van den Akker, director of The Design Trust.
