We are really pleased to introduce part 1 of our 3-part showcase of the beautiful and amazing work from our very talented Module 2 students of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design who took the course in April 2015. Here are some of our fantastic students and the work they have created over the 5 weeks in class – hope you enjoy!
“The course has helped me to reach outside of my typical process to truly find my style. I have developed as a designer by loosening up through the various creative exercises; it has taught me to relax when I’m drawing and not worry about the end use/result. I am also looking around more, to see inspiration and pattern everywhere, and filling my sketchbooks! There is still so much information and knowledge that I have gained from the course to unpack and I am so grateful!” –

“The most valuable I learned in the course was how to create a professional collection, and how I could use trends in my designs. My design tool box is again filled with inspiring and useful tools”.

“For me the most powerful part of module 2 has been becoming more aware of the concept of collections and thinking of my work in terms of branding. Its been a lot of brain-work for me and there is still so much more to think about, I’ve loved it all though”.

“The best thing about the course for me has been the varied briefs, I’ve worked on ideas which I would never have been pushed to do. I’ve been challenged to broaden my creativity and work in different ways and have surprised myself with what I have created. I also loved having a sneak peek into the world of WGSN and taking inspiration from that”.

“During module 2 I discovered my style, which was a real breakthrough moment for me – I can now make consistent design collections that look much more professional. Finding my style has given me the confidence boost I needed to start up my own website and get the ball rolling with my design career and I am now so excited for the future”.

“The most powerful element in taking Module 2 is how it has helped me find my style and to become confident in my work. It feels great to really do what I love to do, and know that I am one step closer to (hopefully) some success in the surface pattern design world. It went by too fast”.
