I found the whole course truly inspiring and the support from the other members has given me the confidence to move forward and trust my own abilities.
The section on Sketching had the biggest impact on me as I have rediscovered my love of drawing and identified the style I plan to use on my future designs.

This course has been life changing for me. I have learned so much, and have received amazing support. The standout was the sense of community and camaraderie. Like I’d found my tribe. I’m a braver and more confident designer because of it. So looking forward to continuing on to Modules 2 & 3 and beyond.

The course has helped me to find new places to find inspiration for my work and also has given me some skills in how to deconstruct patterns so that I can understand them better. I hope this will feed into future work.

Module one inspired me to start designing again with a new perspective. It required that I work outside my comfort zone, which helped me to produce fresh work. I’m now focused on building my portfolio and continuing my creative voyage.

Many thanks for Module 1 of the course. It’s been a lot of fun getting back to basics. It’s like being in art college all over again. I’m starting to find my creative spark again!

Thank you for designing and presenting such a valuable course.
Choosing to follow this course has allowed me to achieve a sense of fulfillment through learning about and developing my inner creativity.
For me, a very powerful element of this course is the online Facebook group. Here, the group connection is extremely powerful not only for inspiration but for advice, support and feedback. This helps me immensely as a new designer…greatest gratitude!

The most powerful elements of the course for me all relate to the course design and content on so many different levels which I will list below: –
- Direct access and connection with Rachel Taylor
- Detailed exercises to motivate, encourage and inspire me to create.
- Inspirational speakers to build my aspirations.
- Differentiation – lots of variety, suitable for beginners and busy times OR jam packed resources for those who are more ahead.
- Closed Facebook group to connect and build my confidence and relationships with like-minded people.
- Live briefs and opportunities that motivate and stimulate a taste of real life designing.
- Downloadable resources and access to all materials 6 months after the course has ended. This made my day as everything else has just got in the way since starting the course.
And finally a real, genuine, warm feeling of support and love!!

The most powerful element of the Make It In Design course was finding my individual style and understanding how that translates to the market and its product sectors.

Module 1 is so informative, fun and interesting and I love doing the simple exercises and learning a lot of new ways to use my creativity towards design making. For me learning the Photoshop and Illustrator was a big thing but Rachael breaks down the workshops in easy steps. I mostly work in mixed media and Rachael showed me how could I work in my favorite medium and still make awesome pattern design. The support from fellow students is awesome I am really looking forward to jump into module 2.

Many thanks for the great course. The most powerful aspect of this course was that it has allowed me to believe that I might finally be able to earn a living doing something that I actually love. For so many years I’ve gone to work with a pit in my stomach because I’ve felt like the life was being sucked out of me doing something that gave me absolutely no joy. This course (and the others I plan to take in the near future) is providing me with the opportunity to change my career without turning my life upside down in the process. I’ve developed as a designer because it’s given me the hope I needed to see that it is possible and not to give up in my pursuit for a joyful job.

The freedom to experiment and explore your own personal style and technique during Module 1 has been priceless. Briefs have bound me for many years and to be given the sanction to just allow everything and anything to unfold has been the most powerful element. It has laid such a solid foundation that I am really enjoying building upon as I move onto Module 2 and beyond.

The course’s step-by-step, encouraging approach to get back-to-basics and experiment, has given me the tools to recognise and develop my own unique style, and the Facebook group support gives you the confidence to keep moving forward with it!

I haven’t had as much time to spend going through the course as I would have liked, but the most powerful thing for me was one of the very first lessons around seeing shapes in everyday life and being able to use those shapes to create motifs for patterns, reinforcing the notion that inspiration is absolutely everywhere, you just need to open your eyes to it. Thinking about making your own brushes to create unique marks and developing characters to incorporate into your designs were two other key take-outs for me.

The empowerment and encouragement within this course has been amazing. It has really helped my confidence and encouraged me to continue to pursue my creative passions.
