Rachael Taylor to join speaker line-up at New Designers exhibition

Our Make it in Design course leader, flourishing surface pattern designer & illustrator and author Rachael Taylor will be heading to London on Thursday 25th June 2015 to join an impressive speaker line-up at the New Designers exhibition.

Rachael will be joining The Design Trust Creative Start-up day which is a full, information-packed speaker event for recent design and craft graduates during the first week of New Designers on Thursday 25 June from 10.30am – 4.30pm. They have invited some very successful creatives and experts to take the stage who will each be sharing their trade secrets with you.

Rachael will take a 30 minute presentation slot (12:30 – 1pm) to deliver her presentation ‘How to make it in the surface pattern design industry‘. Here she’ll share all her top tips, practical advice and story of how she made it in the exciting business of surface pattern design. Rachael made a brave move 7 years ago to branch out on her own and has never looked back. She has a bank of inspiring success stories along with a valuable list of things she wished she knew when she first started out! The things Rachael will share with you could save you years of trial and error, money, time and heartache, but also give you insight and the confidence to help you go for it!

It’s going to be an amazing day and Rachael is really looking forward to meeting the emerging creative talent at the show. Accompanied by her fabulous assistant and studio manager Kelly, they’ll both be on hand after her presentation to help answer any of your questions and if you’ve brought any design work with you, they’ll be more than happy to review it (limited to one piece per person). In addition other members of the Make it in Design team will also be there on the day to chat about this year’s Summer School, The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design September classes, ways to get involved and how to access all of our amazing resources to support you throughout your design career.

Rachael will be sharing the stage with the likes of Lara Watson – editor of popular craft magazine ‘Mollie Makes’, Alison Lewy – founder of the specialist business support agency ‘Fashion Angel’, Anna Denise-Floor – senior market development specialist of ‘Etsy UK’ and many more.
