Our Make it in Design course leader, flourishing surface pattern designer & illustrator and author Rachael Taylor will be in London on Thursday June 30, 2016 to join an impressive speaker line-up at New Designers.
Rachael will be joining The Design Trust’s Start Up Day which is a full, information-packed speaker event for recent design and craft graduates during the first week of New Designers which runs from 10.30am – 4.30pm. The Design Trust have invited some very successful creatives and experts to take the stage who will each be sharing their trade secrets with you (read on to download the full programme!)
Rachael will be taking part in two presentations: Her first is a 25 minute presentation starting at 2pm followed immediately after with a Q&A discussion with Patricia van den Akker from The Design Trust and the fabulous, award-winning textile designer Ella Doran.
Rachael’s 25 minute presentation (2:00 – 2:25 pm) is titled ‘20 things you need to know about becoming a professional surface pattern designer‘. Here she’ll talk about what it REALLY takes to make it in this fabulous industry, sharing her top tips, practical advice and story of how she has made it.
At 2:30 Rachael is joined on stage by the award-winning designer, Ella Doran, who is best known for her photography based, innovative pattern designs for homeware. Patricia van den Akker, director of The Design Trust will lead a Q&A with Rachael and Ella about the ups and downs of their careers, the diverse routes and markets for textile designers, how they created their voice to stand out in the marketplace and where they see the future of design.
The Design Trust Start Up Day also features a number of other exciting presenters including; Dids Macdonald OBE, CEO of Anti Copying in Design (ACID), Ruth Wassermann – Head of Design at MADE.com, Alison Lewy MBE, Founder of Fashion Angel, photograher Yeshen Venema and many more!
