HAPPY WORLD IP DAY!
If you’re a follower of Make it in Design or have taken one of our acclaimed surface pattern e-courses, you’ll know how passionate we are about promoting intellectual property awareness. We are huge supporters of the AMAZING ACID Advisory Council and the Design Council and their mission to enlighten and support designers all over the world.
In the lead up to World IP Day 2018, ACID announced that one designer will be awarded the ACID Female Design Champion Award. The award, which focuses on the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity, and courage of women, celebrates those who drive change, innovation and creativity in the design industry.
Today we are thrilled to hear that ACID has selected and named their very first Female Design Champion – a HUGE congrats goes out to Holly Hughes of Citradi! Holly will be presented with an engraved trophy and £100 gift voucher, and will accompany ACID CEO Dids Macdonald OBE., at an IPAN Awareness Network reception on the Terrace Pavilion at The Houses of Parliament in Westminster. You can read more about Holly and her award in ACID’s latest press release here.
RACHAEL TAYLOR: RUNNER UP FOR THE ACID FDC AWARD
Earlier this week we were absolutely thrilled to hear that following the initial judging by Sarah Weir, OBE., CEO of the Design Council and her team, Rachael was selected as a runner up for the ACID Female Design Champion Award. Rachael’s nomination, which shares on her advocacy around IP rights and protections and her own examples of infringement, can be seen below:
In response to Rachael’s nomination, The Design Council congratulated Rachael for “her extraordinary contribution to teaching and for passing on her knowledge to so many others.”
As a team we would like to thank ACID for their consideration and for their ongoing IP awareness initiatives. These include some fantastic and informative contributions to our e-courses, Module 2: Creating Your Professional Identity and Module 3: Monetising Your Designs, launching on *May 14, 2018 (*Refers to last ‘live’ classes – self-paced / instant access courses available from May 21, 2018).
Combined with Rachael’s teaching around IP rights and protections, copyright, trademarks, logos, and how to document original designs, ACID’s input in our courses are invaluable to our community. Today, along with ACID, the Make it in Design team are happily celebrating World Intellectual Property Day, and are dedicated to raising awareness around IP rights and empowering the design community.
If you have concerns about your own IP rights, or would like to learn more, be sure to take a look at ACID’s membership options.
