We are thrilled to let you know that acclaimed surface pattern designer and illustrator, Rachael Taylor and the Make it in Design team will be in Liverpool hosting Sketch Doodle Draw LIVE! on Monday May 16, 2016
These FREE, informal, meet, greet and sketch with Rachael Taylor sessions are designed to:
- give you an opportunity to meet and chat with Rachael and watch her at work
- help you loosen up, experiment and be spontaneous as Rachael always encourages this way of working, strongly believing there are no mistakes – so come along and just have fun
- show you how to look for patterns in your surroundings where you’re guaranteed to see everyday things in a more beautiful way
- bring creativity to the community and show how drawing, sketching and doodling can be a useful way to de-stress in our everyday hectic lives and be enjoyable for all the family too
- give you a chance to get your work featured on the Make it in Design site and network with like-minded creatives!
We’d love you to join us anytime between 12:30 and 15:30 in the serene setting of the beautiful Palm House in Sefton Park – a Victorian glasshouse displaying plants from around the world.
In this BOTANICS themed live drawing event, Rachael will show you how she gathers pattern inspiration from nature – one of her favourite subject matters! She’ll also explain how her early signature style of layering, textures and quirky hand drawn line-work developed and how these nature-inspired patterns have led to some of her most popular work to now feature on many different products including homeware, stationery, textiles and many others which are sold around the world.
Bring your own sketch pad, pencils and pens or we’ll be handing complimentary supplies out on the day.

Running shoes at the ready! The Make it in Design team will be gathering in Liverpool, UK on Sunday May 15, 2016 to take part in the Color Obstacle Rush – a high energy, crazy and colourful event where we’ll get splattered with paint and overcome obstacles over a 5k course!
We’re doing this to raise money for two fantastic charities that support a member of our Make it in Design team who’s little girl has two rare, life-limiting diseases.
