As part of our commitment to opening up the world of surface pattern design and supporting your development, we want to offer you a series of opportunities for showcasing your work, and helping you get noticed.
This page outlines the submission guidelines for a variety of opportunities. Please be sure to follow them carefully, as any work which does not meet the guidelines will be rejected without notice. It is really important that you are professional in the way your submitting your work, wherever it is you are submitting it.
You can take advantage of as many of these opportunities as you like. You may wish to spread out your submissions over several months – you can submit any time unless there is a specific deadline given. Please be aware that due to a high volume of submissions we are unable to respond individually every time you submit, but if your work is featured you will be notified of this.
By submitting to any of the following opportunities you acknowledge that you accept the following terms and conditions:
- We may use the submitted work in any context related to content and promotion of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design, MOYO Magazine, the Make It In Design online resource hub, the Do What You Love website or the Rachael Taylor Designs website, at any point in the future.
- You will retain all rights to your work and you will always be credited.
- There is no fee payable for the use of your work as outlined in (1) above.
- You confirm that the work submitted is your own and you own all associated rights (unless it is licensed work and you have permission from the licensee to submit it here). We take no responsibility for any intellectual property rights infringement if you submit work copied by other people. Anyone found to have infringed any intellectual property rights will have their work removed immediately.
What is it? An opportunity to showcase your style and beautiful work in one of our weekly designer interview spots on MakeItInDesign.com.
Who can submit? We are looking for established designers who have been in the industry more than two years. If you were previously in a different creative field – such as an illustrator who then re-established themselves primarily as a surface pattern designer – please count the time since you began working as a surface pattern designer.
What do we need? Please drop us a line with your bio (no more than 100 words), logo, head shot and several product/design/studio shots. All images should be submitted low res at 550px wide. We will then get in touch with a series of questions and a submission deadline if we are going to go ahead with the interview. If we later choose to feature this in MOYO Magazine please be aware that we would need to come back to you for high res images.

What is it? An opportunity to showcase your style and beautiful work in one of our weekly designer interview spots on MakeItInDesign.com.
Who can submit? We are looking for emerging designers who have been in the industry for under two years but have made real progress in that time.
What do we need? Please drop us a line with your bio (no more than 100 words), logo, head shot and several product/design/studio shots. All images should be submitted low res at 550px wide. We will then get in touch with a series of questions and a submission deadline if we are going to go ahead with the interview. If we later choose to feature this in MOYO Magazine please be aware that we would need to come back to you for high res images.

What is it? An opportunity to showcase your process through imagery of your sketches to design ideas & colourways to products (real or mock ups)
Who can submit? We invite all designers to submit.
What do we need? Please drop us a line with your bio (no more than 100 words), logo, head shot and a minimum of 10 images showing your process. Please also attach a summary article about your process, preferably in steps linked to the images you submit. All images should be submitted low res at 550px wide. We will then get in touch with any further information and/or a publication date. If we later choose to feature this in MOYO Magazine please be aware that we would need to come back to you for high res images.

What is it? An opportunity to showcase your creative space. This may be a traditional art & design studio or perhaps somewhere quirky you create!
Who can submit? We invite all designers to submit
What do we need? Please drop us a line with your bio (no more than 100 words), logo, head shot and several high quality studio shots. Please also include a short article (no more than 600 words) on where your creative space is, what you love about it, how you have organised it etc. Please share anything which will help our readers get a sense of how you keep yourself inspired at work! All images should be submitted low res at 550px wide in the first instance, but should be well lit decent photographs. We will then get in touch with further details and/or a publication date. If we later choose to feature this in MOYO Magazine please be aware that we would need to come back to you for high res images.

What is it? A celebration of successes – this might be competitions you have won, licensing deals etc….
Who can submit? Anyone who has taken one or more modules of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design.
What do we need? Please drop us a line with your bio (no more than 100 words), logo, head shot and several shots of your work/products/studio or anything else related to your recent success. Please also include a short article (no more than 600 words) on what impact the course had on you, and what you have achieved since. All images should be submitted low res at 550px wide in the first instance, but should be well lit decent photographs. We will then get in touch with further details and/or a publication date. If we later choose to feature this in MOYO Magazine please be aware that we would need to come back to you for high res images.

What is it? In each issue of MOYO Magazine we set an inspiring design brief with unusual subject material, aimed at pushing you outside your comfort zone and encouraging you to design to a brief. Submissions are judged by Tigerprint and the winner gets featured in MOYO and wins a prize.
Who can submit? We invite all designers to submit.
What do we need? Please refer to the guidelines in the latest edition of MOYO Magazine.

Deadline: As specified in the latest edition of MOYO Magazine
What is it? Showcase the wonder of your hometown or city in our regular feature, with particular regard to places that may be of interested to travelling designers visiting your city. Please take a look at a past issue of MOYO Magazine for an example.
Who can submit? We invite all designers to submit.
What do we need? In the first instance please drop us a line with the name of your town/city/country, and a few ideas about why it would be a great place to feature. We will then check that it (i) hasn’t already been featured or (ii) isn’t already in the schedule. We will then get back to you with further details of what we need, along with a deadline.

What is it? An opportunity to write in with your questions for Dids Macdonald, CEO of ACID. Please note due to a high number of questions we cannot guarantee that yours will be answered in the next issue of MOYO.
Who can submit? We invite all designers to submit.
What do we need? Your name, country, and intellectual property related question.
