We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.
We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.
How are you preparing for the show?
This is my first time showing at Surtex, and I am looking forward to meeting art directors and manufactures who are looking for special and fun characters. My work is a blend of traditional and digital media, so I’m making sure to bring some original pieces for people to learn about my process. In the end, my works connects with a wide range of age groups and demographics- there is something for everyone!

About
Since graduating from the Illustration Department at The Rhode Island School of Design, my artwork has appeared in magazines, on book covers, and even as stickers. I taught Illustration at both Montserrat College of Art and RISD before starting a new chapter as an in-house designer in Nashville, TN. After working in the gift and stationery industry, I have returned to my personal illustration and licensing opportunities full time.
You can find me currently teaching at Watkins College of Art and Design CE program and probably eating sushi. Clients include Scholastic Press, Galison/ Mudpuppy Press, Cricket Magazine, Williams-Sonoma, Girls’ Life Magazine, and Utne Reader. I am also Currently taking Module 1 after receiving Runner-Up in the Print & Pattern/ABSPD Make It In Design 2014 Scholarship.
