We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2015 show taking place on May 17 – 19, 2015 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

How are you preparing for the show?
Very much a newbie here in the industry. I am represented by Rachelle Panagarry of Cultivate Art agency, so my portfolio will be with her along with the other artists she represents. Getting my portfolio ready was a wonderful experience, it was nice to HAVE to organize files (my artsy brain does not necessarily work that way and it’s good to be prompted to do so), it was also good to have a timeline for when things needed to be done. I sent out approximately 150 pre-show promo cards, redid my business cards to match my promos and will be giving away luggage tags with the promo designs on them as well. I am thrilled that I will be able to attend Surtex and see where all of the magic happens!

I was born and raised in Washington State, USA and that will always be “home” to me. I married my husband, an active duty Marine,13 years ago. We have lived in many different places since then, which has truly enriched my life. We currently live in Virginia with our three young children. My love for drawing began way back in elementary school, but it just never evolved into anything. My LOVE and passion for drawing, color, pattern and design surfaced again about 3 years ago when I was searching for something outside of being a wife and Mom. Being a full time stay-at-home Mom, and living an ever-changing military lifestyle, it feels wonderful to have found “IT.”
