Surtex 2015 Preview: Natalie Williamson

We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2015 show taking place on May 17 – 19, 2015 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

We are delighted to share with you previews of the talented designers showing at Surtex on the Make it in Design blog over the next couple of weeks – enjoy!

How are you preparing for the show?

Eat, sleep, design, tweet, repeat! I’m working to a schedule, I pulled together last year, with time planned in for art making, printing and promotion, but I’m also taking ABSPD modules which have and continue to be great at keeping me motivated and trend focussed.

Which ABSPD course have you taken?

Module 1, 2 and 3 and will be taking mod 4 later in the year.

About

I work mostly from my home studio in the UK, often accompanied by my 3 year old daughter, Ava and sausage dog, Poppy. Both like to join me in making a creative mess! Working traditionally to begin with, I take my illustrations into digital form. My aim is to keep my hand drawn graphic style and combine this with my love of lush colour to design happy surface patterns, for happy people.
