Welcome back to the Make it in Design blog! Today we’re thrilled to share a gorgeous curation of artwork out of Winter School 2022.
Winter School is an annual online creative event where we provide creatives all over the globe with cutting edge design briefs to push their creativity and skill set, and to expand their design portfolio. This year we were honoured once again to partner with trend consultancy Porter & Brawn who also provided us with the coolest trends for our Winter School participants as well as for our exclusive online members’ club The Make it in Design Live Hub!

Commenting on their selection, P&B said:
“As with every season of this brilliant design challenge, we were blown away by both the variation in design and by the quality of the work submitted. Seeing such different concepts shows how well each designer has responded with an individual direction based upon a strong understanding of the original brief and crucially their own further research. We loved seeing the fine details in both Nomad and Crafted Heritage – so many intricate designs featuring both graphic shapes and hand-drawn elements. Use of colour in many of the Crafted Heritage designs was a real stand-out! It’s clear to see how much fun was had with Interstellar and Cool Reflection – so many designers exploring new motifs, techniques and tricky typography placements! In Calm Haven we have seen some inspiring developments with really distinctive use of texture combined with fantastic botanical elements. Dark romance provided such great opportunity to explore a really rich palette and we loved seeing the inky tones combined with the much brighter shades – not an easy balance to get right but so many people did! The inclusion of butterflies in a new direction was also really great to see here. Never an easy task, but we have highlighted 6 of our favourite design per track. These are designs which not only grabbed our attention but also demonstrated commercial viability and perfectly answered the brief. Thank you once again to everyone that took part and shared their progress along the way.”
