November 14, 2011 marked the start of a very special journey for Make it in Design. It was day one of the first ever surface pattern design e-course ‘Module 1: Designing your way’ from The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design. Saturday November 14 2015 marked our 4th Birthday and the kick of of lots of wonderful pattern celebrations.
We are proud to say that in the last four years over 5,000 creatives from 62 countries have joined us for one of our acclaimed courses, producing over 100,000 gorgeous patterns and works of art between them during the course alone. WOW!
Join in the celebrations by sharing your favourite pattern (remember to credit the copyright owner if it’s not yours!) and remember to use the hashtags #worldpatternday and #makeitindesign and find out more about Make it in Design, World Pattern Day and 100 Days of Pattern at the following link.

“I just love Calyx by my very own design hero Lucienne Day. It’s quirky abstract nature, cool composition & rich tones team teamed bright pops of colours just tick all of the right boxes. I’m also a big fan of the textures & mark making techniques that she incorporated into her designs that cleverly added subtle depth & unique characteristics. I just adore her work; she really was a trendsetter paving the way for many female textile & surface pattern designers.”Rachael Taylor
