Did you know about the handy draw inside tool in Adobe Illustrator? No? Then this quick little tutorial shows you everything you need to know about drawing vectors inside another vector shape. We’ve demonstrated using the geometric and brush tools and the process even works on type and gradients!
- Select your shape
- Go to the ‘Drawn Inside’ button at the bottom of your toolbar and select it (you can also use Shift + D to switch between modes)
- Now select your secondary colour and tool (geometric or brush tool) and begin drawing over your shape
- Your secondary shapes or lines are now drawn inside the first vector
- An important thing to note is not to outline your font before attempted to drawn inside as that option does not work
We encourage you to further experiment with using different shapes, brushes and gradients. We’d love to see them! Tag @makeitindesign on all socials.
