Here at Make it in Design, we love sharing the successes and talents of designers, especially those who are part of our ever-growing community! Whether it’s getting their work published, launching a new site, seeing their designs in print, or getting a licensing deal, there are so many moments to celebrate in the world of design.
Today we are excited to share the success of Nina Hansen, a Danish graphic designer and the founder of Designer By Heart. We were thrilled to welcome Nina into our community last summer when she took part in the Make it in Design Summer School, and we’re so excited that she’s again joined us for Winter School 2018! Today, we are excited to share Nina’s latest and inspiring collection with our fantastic readers!
Sea Life by Nina Hansen
Nina recently launched an entire collection of surface pattern designs called Sea Life for baby and children’s apparel and nursery decor. The collection offers something truly unique and special for children or grandchildren’s rooms and really helps their spaces to stand out! Commenting on her collection, Nina said, “I created the Sea Life collection because I want to help bring the wonder and beauty of the sea life into children’s wardrobes and rooms.”
The collection was inspired by life in and around the sea, and includes twelve fantastic designs. We love that Nina’s Sea Life collection pictures lots of sea animals, shells and plants of the ocean, and that it offers a mix of light-hearted and positive energy in playful contrast colours. In sharing on her intentions with the Sea Life collection, Nina said that her goal was “to create an imaginative ocean world, and I wanted to make sure my designs in this collection have a fun and cheerful vibe in them.” There’s no doubt that Nina has accomplished just that!
About Nina
Nina has spent a great deal of her adult life in the U.S. where she got her university degrees. She first attained a degree in fashion buying, which led to a position as a creative swimsuit buyer. Nina wanted to provide design change suggestions digitally, because she found herself explaining her ideas to the designer, instead of being able to show them. After explaining her ideas, Nina would usually have to wait for a week to see the results of her creativity, so when she got the opportunity to study at Hawaii Pacific University, she took a Master’s degree in Communication where she specialised in Graphic Design.
While studying in Hawaii, Nina worked as an assistant graphic design lead where she developed her creative skills. Commenting on her experience there, Nina said that “living in Hawaii and by the shores of Florida and California, gave me so much inspiration. I love everything that has to do with beaches and the ocean.”
We love that Nina found a place that provided her with inspiration for such a fabulous collection. A huge well done to Nina and her gorgeous work on ‘Sea Life’!
