‘Designing Your Way’ (Module 1) is a five week online course where you will learn everything you need to know to turn basic sketches into elements for pattern design. If you’ve ever dreamt of one day licensing your own designs but didn’t know where to start – Module 1 is your answer!
In Module 1 you’ll learn about colour and pattern by creating a set of source images, designing your own motifs, learning how to create repeats, putting together a colour swatch and mood board and designing a set of business stationery. We’ll help you develop your signature style and use this to brand your business, plus we’ll also provide you with plenty of time-saving hints and tips, inspiration and secrets from successful surface pattern designers too.
Module 1 ‘Designing Your Way’ starts February 19, 2018. Find out more.
‘Creating Your Professional Identity’ (Module 2) is a five week online course where you will learn how to develop your brand image, design advanced technical repeats in Photoshop and Illustrator, put a collection together and start your own label.
If you are excited about the thought of making a name for yourself, Module 2 is the course for you! We’ll also show you how to understand and predict trends, put a collection together and create technical repeats, learn the industry specifications for printing and designing for various products and protect your work. Plus we’ll show you how to market yourself, get noticed, build an on-line presence and attract the press.
Module 2 ‘Creating your professional identity’ starts February 19, 2018. Find out more.
‘Monetising Your Designs’ (Module 3) is a five week online course where you will identify multiple streams of income for your designs. If you have a collection of work but don’t know how to get it out in the world and get it sold, this course is for you.

You’ll learn more complex techniques for sophisticated and commercially-appealing surface pattern design, how to negotiate a contract that’s right for you, manage your money, stay motivated, manage stock levels, write a business plan and so much more! Plus we’ll also share our little black book of industry contacts!
