Anti-Copying in Design and Make it in Design partner to help artists and designers protect their rights
Online design school Make it in Design is delighted to announce a new strategic partnership with ACID (Anti Copying in Design), the UK’s leading membership and campaigning organisation for design and intellectual property, in order to help artists and designers to protect their rights.
Together our two organisations, which have supported more than 30,000 designers over the past decade, are uniting in our commitment to helping creatives understand and protect their design rights. At a time when we know that AI for many artists and designers, is becoming a real threat, it’s more important than ever that pioneering organisations like ACID and Make it in Design work together to best support our community in a rapidly evolving landscape. Together we can better understand the emerging challenges and threats, as well as identify areas of potential opportunity. Partnership working and advocacy have never been more vital.
Together we will bring our experience from a combined 35+ years working in the creative industries to deliver:
- A series of webinars aimed at artists and designers, explaining Intellectual Property (IP) and best practice for protect their designs.

- Exclusive online content including award-winning designer Rachael Taylor’s teaching around IP rights and protections, copyright, trademarks, logos, and how to document artwork in a safe way through ACID.
Make It in Design Co-founder and course instructor Rachael Taylor is an official member of the official ACID Design Sector Council. Lead by CEO Dids Macdonald OBE and her team, ACID have shown incredible support throughout Rachael’s own career, standing by her during her own legal battles (including a highly publicised battle against one of the UK’s largest retailers).

ACID is the UK’s leading design and intellectual property campaigning organisation. They are a forward-thinking trade association for designers and manufacturers; a not-for-profit organisation funded by membership fees. Their aim is to provide cost effective tips, advice, and guidelines to help their members protect their intellectual property to achieve growth through a proactive IP strategy.
To retain the integrity of their membership, all potential members must be designers or have a design capability and the majority of their products must be designed either in-house or by commissioned designers. They also welcome manufacturers to join ACID who have entered into license agreements with freelance designers in which the intellectual property rights are assigned to the manufacturer.
