Bienvenue a Paris.
Though I do not live in Paris, any chance I can get I love to visit this city. It’s a beautiful, cultural, chic city, the main pleasure I get is from exploring the streets and neighbourhoods.
From getting off the train at Gare du Nord, I stroll down the wide busy boulevards and turn off into the labyrinth of streets and covered passageways of the pre Haussmann master plan. One option for a days adventure is a coffee and pastry stop at Broken Arm cafe, sitting outside in the morning sunshine and watching kids playing in the schoolyard.
Now to feed your cultural appreciate, I love visiting Musee Carnavalet; which displays the lives of residents, their neighbourhoods and their lifestyles through the times of Paris. And on the way out, a must visit to the museums gift shop for some lovely gifts for home and yourself.
Back on the streets, heading towards the river, I like to walk through Place des Vosges and pop into one (or a few!) quirky and independent designer shops. In the summertime I will buy some bread and cheese and find a spot on the banks, in the sun, by Le Seine on Ile St Louis; watching the boats and people go by.
Crossing the river, I will get lost around the streets (with my trusty street map in my pocket to get me back on track) in the Latin Quarter, ending up for a rest in one of my favourite green metal park chairs in Jardin du Luxembourg (inspiration for my new pattern design as seen in the piece at the bottom of the post). Around this time in my day trip, the time to head back to the train station is fast approaching; so I start to walk northwards. Stopping off at a new favourite cafe, Kitsune in Palais Royal garden. What makes a great city to me is that it has a strong architectural and cultural history, but every time you visit, there are always new places to discover.
