Let’s Pattern Bomb the World!
For the past few weeks we’ve seen you add fun, colour, energy and above all some amazing PATTERN to the world around us!
We asked you to ‘pattern bomb’ your street, town, city or favourite holiday destination by adding your designs to a landmark, building, statue, road, bridge, vehicle, hill or any structure that catches your eye and is crying out for some pattern love!
We’ve seen pattern adorning classic cars, beach huts, bridges and lighthouses. It’s taken us on journeys to Paris, Rome, Normandie beach and even haystacks in a Russian field!
Below are just a few examples of some of the AMAZING #patternbombing we’ve seen you share over the past couple of weeks!

Share your designs with us on Twitter / Facebook / Instagram before 8pm (GMT) August 28, 2015using TWO hashtags #makeitindesign and #patternbombing to be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes – don’t forget to give a location hint too if it’s not obvious!
IMPORTANT: We want you to do this visually through digital mock-up form only and have created a helpful technical guide (below) to help you achieve this using Photoshop. Please also only use your own photography and patterns unless you have permission from the copyright owner.

How & what to submit
Once you have created your digital mock-up, please share your designs with us on Twitter / Facebook / Instagram before 8pm (GMT) August 28, 2015 using TWO hashtags:
#makeitindesign
#patternbombing
to be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes. NOTE you must use BOTH hashtags.
Please also email your high res mock-up to [email protected] if you wish to be considered for our fun publication that we’ll share with the design industry later this year (see more information on this below).
The deadline for all entries is 8pm (GMT) on August 28, 2015.
The Important Bits!
- We only want you to do this visually through digital mock-up form only unless you have obtained permission to physically decorate a surface
- Please make sure you use your own pictures and patterns unless given permission by the copyright owner
- You may submit as many ‘pattern bombs’ as you like, there is no limit
- Competition ends 8pm (GMT) on August 28, 2015
- There is no cash alternative offered in the event that the winner is unable to use the prize for any reason.
- By entering this competition you agree to your image to be promoted on the Make it in Design website and social networks.
- The winners will be selected by the Make it in Design team and announced on September 1, 2015.
- The judges decision is final.
Our Fun Publication
We will be creating a beautiful online publication using a selection of your mocked-up images to show what a brighter place our world could look like if we splashed it with pattern.
Therefore please also email your high resolution images (300dpi and at least 1000px wide) including your name and the location / landmark you have #patternbombed to [email protected] using ‘PATTERNBOMBING PUBLICATION’ as the title of your email.
