A few words from our Co-founder and Course Leader Rachael Taylor⁣⁣:
⁣⁣
“It’s Mental Health Awareness Week here in the UK & the timing is very apt for me following on from the sadness of last week. Those that know me well or connect with me on here will know that I spoke out over the last couple of weeks about losing a friend; sadly a young life ended due to her battle with mental health.

Last year I spoke out publicly about my own struggles & traumatic experience that I went through as a teenager. I had always kept it a secret with only a select few knowing about it all & even then it was a filtered version as I used to feel so ashamed (when you should *never feel ashamed*).

My life was saved by a stranger & the emergency services at the hospital all those years ago, so as survivor I know how important it is to lift the stigma around mental health & to get people talking.

Last year was the first time that I felt brave enough to share my own story & speak out but it was important for me to use my own experience to try & help others.

If you are feeling lost or alone please try & speak to someone. I know it can be daunting but it’s so important & trust me when I say it can, & will, get better.

If you suspect someone is struggling please try to reach out, even a subtle gesture can really help & most of all we should all try to be kind to each other as no-one really knows what is going on inside someone’s mind. ⁣⁣

I want to help raise awareness particularly through the power of design so this a call out to my creative community (& anyone else that wants to take part).⁣⁣
