HOW CLASS WORKS:

Content: Each week in our classroom will include 2 videos and 2 creative assignments.

Access to Guest Tutors: Each week there will be a Q&A/work review session with a guest tutor for a total of 5 live sessions (these begin week 2 to allow time for you to upload your work to our submissions galleries so they can review your work from week 1). Dates and times will be made available closer to September 2024. A detailed schedule will be sent out before class and made available in the classroom.

TUTORS:

In class we have 10 stellar designers, artists, creatives and industry insiders from around the world who teach from an array of specialisms, mediums and topics:

Mister Fred – A Surface Pattern Designer, Illustrator, Creative Consultant and Art Director from Berlin, Germany who has worked for many big global brands such Volkswagen, Shein and Mr. Nam. Fred will be guiding you through how he designs wholeheartedly ‘The Fredway’ and helping you become a flourishing multidisciplinary designer.

Kelle Boyd – An Illustrator, fabric and stationery Designer from Tennessee, USA who a week following the debut of her brand, found her designs being presented to Target. She has since worked with huge brands such as Barnes and Noble and Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Kelle will be taking you through the full process of creating a successful fabric collection.

Davinder Madaher – A Print designer, Consultant and Lecturer from Yorkshire, UK with over 25 years of design experience in both Fashion and Homeware. His design work has been sold to multiple top brands around the world. Davinder will be demonstrating his floral painting process, how to digitise your art and create a half drop repeat pattern and discussing the multiple income streams that work for him.

Charlotte O’Reily – An Interior Designer and Illustrator from Hertfordshire, UK and owner of innovative luxury brand Charlotte Jade, which can be seen within commercial and residential properties around the world. Her clients include Costa Coffee, Harrods, Fenwick, Royal Horticultural Society and London Zoo. Charlotte will be guiding you through the process of how she creates a successful and commercial wallpaper design.

Maria Montiel – An Artist and Designer from Venezuela, now based in Spain, for many years has been pushing the limits in the art world and has several popular licensed ranges. Maria will be guiding you through her gorgeous watercolour techniques and showing you what it takes to make your original art process successful and profitable.

Jess Williams – A successful Illustrator and Designer from Leamington Spa, UK has been working since 2010 to provide trend direction and design to clients around the world for fashion, interiors and stationery. Jess will be showing you how to translate and interpret trends in a way that is invaluable for your portfolio and next collection of work.

Sarah Porter – A top trends experts from Trends Consultancy Porter & Brawn based in London, UK with over 20 years of trend forecasting and product development experience for small and big brands. Sarah will be demonstrating how you can become your own trends advisor.

Rachael Taylor – An Art Director, Author, Mentor & Print & Pattern Designer from Liverpool, UK with nearly 20 years under her belt working in industry on a variety of creative projects. Rachael will be guiding you through all of the ingredients it takes to be successful across multiple markets areas and disciplines.

Charlotte Clayton – The Creative Content Planner for Make it in Design, from Yorkshire UK with over 20 years experience working for big brands like Hallmark on greetings, typography, graphic and pattern design and packaging. She will be showing what it takes to create a brand with a voice and personality.

Kelly Crossley – The Designer and Social Media Manager for Make it in Design, from Staffordshire, UK, with over 10 years’ experience working in the creative industry on all kinds of projects from promotional materials, to photography shoots and from book design to product design. She will be demonstrating how you can build an impactful online presence.

HOW TO ACCESS OUR CLASSES:

If are new to Make it in Design:

You will be sent an email confirming your class registration after purchase as well as an email containing information on how to set up your student account. Our online classrooms are accessed through this account, and once registered will be accessible through your dashboard. If you have not received emails from us, please check your junk mail and set [email protected] as a safe sender. Please email us if you have still not received anything.

If you already have an account with us:

The class will appear in your dashboard after purchase. If it is a live class this will be in your dashboard but will not be accessible until it goes live (please check dates on individual classes). If you cannot see your class, please check you have signed up with the same email address. If not, please email [email protected] and we can combine the accounts for you.

FAQS:

Is this a live class?

Yes! It will be live from September 9th and will run for 6 weeks.

I don’t live in the UK. Can I still join?

Of course! You can join from anywhere in the world and you will have access to the classroom 24/7 until December 31^st, 2024.

I’m not on Facebook. Can I still join?

Absolutely. All the content is delivered in a private online classroom. The community aspect is optional, although we know that having supportive people in your corner does make a huge difference.

How much time do I need?

The class will be live for 6 weeks so we recommend blocking out some time to make sure you can fully commit to class. After the 6 weeks the class can be completed in your own time before access ends on December 31^st, 2024. We will of course help you with time management in this class with a class schedule. The focus of this course is to help you learn and develop your creative skills in an environment rich with advice from our experts, so we recommend really taking advantage of their generous time.
