This course will transform your business and revolutionise your concept of what you are capable of. With regular pep talks from the founders of Make It In Design, as well as others working on launching their own ideas, and cheerleading for you, this might just be the most positive and motivating course you will ever take.

You can use this process for any idea. If it is physically impossible to bring the entire idea to life in the space of 12 weeks (for example if your project was to design and build your own house), you will learn how to break that project down into 12-week blocks and you will be encouraged to focus on one of them during this course. You can then go through the process again with the next part of your project, and so on. It’s magic!

If the past few years taught us anything it is that we have to be self-reliant, flexible and innovative to keep our businesses thriving. Once you have the tools and confidence to bring something to life in just 12 weeks, you can respond and adapt better in future, adding new income streams fast, and discovering new ways to grow your client list and audience. This is about investing in your own capacity to innovate and create.

This course is taught by leading surface pattern designer Rachael Taylor, and bestselling author and award-winning entrepreneur Beth Kempton, who together founded Make It In Design as an online design school, very early in the days of e-learning. We have constantly innovated in that time, developing ten in-depth online courses that have helped many thousands of designers to flourish in their creative careers, a thriving members’ hub, an online magazine with millions of views, significant online social media audiences, and one of the most supportive creative communities out there. We have done this while each running our own businesses alongside Make It In Design, publishing books, launching podcasts, having children, moving house many times and shifting things around in our own lives to focus on doing what we love.

All of which is to say we know how to make things happen, because we have done it over and over again. We understand what it’s like to juggle work and family, to struggle with confidence but do it anyway, to be scared and excited and exhausted and energised.

We know from this experience that the secret to any successful business lies not just in the ideas, but in the practical action taken to make those things happen. • Is this a live class?

• Does it matter what my idea is? I think it might take longer than 12 weeks.

• Does it matter if I don’t have an idea yet?

It’s fine to join even if you aren’t yet sure what your idea will be. In the first week we will help you narrow it down to one thing to focus on. This is a brilliant course to have blocked out in your calendar, and then when the time comes, we are confident it will become clear to you what to work on.

• I don’t live in the UK. Can I still join?

Of course! You can join from anywhere and you will have access to the classroom 24/7 until December 31^st, 2024.

• I’m not on Facebook. Can I still join?

Absolutely. All the content is delivered in a private online classroom. The community aspect is optional and additional, although we know that having supportive people in your corner when you are trying to bring something to life does make a huge difference.

• How many hours a week do I need?

The class was written for a 12-week format but can be completed in your own time before access ends on December 31^st, 2024.

The focus of this course is helping you to get something done, so do not overload you with learning content. Each week’s video will be short but rich with advice and inspiration, and the workbook will help you dig deep into your idea and plan, take action or reflect, depending on what point you are at in the course. You may therefore only need about an hour for the actual content each week, but it will prompt you to take significant action towards your idea, so of course you will need time for that. How much time you need to spend on your actual idea completely depends on what you will be working on. For example, you may need a lot more time to design and pitch a brand-new collection, compared to creating and launching a new podcast. Whatever you choose to work on, the more time you can dedicate to your idea, the deeper you will be able to go on your idea, and the more chance you have of succeeding. We will of course help you with time management in this class.
