We are really pleased to showcase the beautiful work from our very talented Module 2 students of ‘The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design (the e-course) who took the course in November 2013. Here are some our fantastic students & the work they have created over the 5 weeks in class.

Web“Module 2 is a total pack of information about fashion, pattern and trend which are vital to know to become a surface pattern designer. I have developed my signature look, learned about collection and how to arrange those together. I appreciate Rachael’s continuous support and the amazing facebook group….a complete pack.” – Habiba Rahman

Isabel_Howlett_Splitpea3D_lores“This course has given me the extra push needed to refine my style and think about working in collections and to a brief. I have created so much in a short amount of time. It’s validated me and I now feel like I am on my way to becoming a designer and taking my ideas and new career seriously.” – Isabel Howlett

“The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design has been a wonderful support to give me the confidence to design surface patterns and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to break into the Surface Design industry. I really loved everything about the course including the teacher, Rachael Taylor!” – Kathryn Cole

CarolinaGuerrero_AuroraGarden1_LowRes“The most powerful element of this module was to learn about collections and to have been able to put a collection together. With collections is more easy to show your style and your design capabilities to future clients, and is a way to build a strong image of the designer you are. Also the facebook community of this course was great, because is wonderful to be surounded by such positive, joyful and creative people from all over the world that always have a nice comment for the work and effort of the rest.” – Carolina Guerrero

“The most powerful thing that stood out for me during this module is the importance of communicating and sharing my work with others. I am normally quite shy and tend to work in isolation, with only myself to really be the judge of my work, I can sometimes be over critical, which in turn demotivates me. It’s been quite a breakthrough for me to be able to communicate on the Facebook group page and to share my work with others and interact in general. The most powerful thing so far during the whole course is discovering something that I really enjoy which can in turn allow me to make money….I still have a long way to go, but just having come this far is enough for me to keep going” – Trudi Finniss

“My designs are collective mix of cultural influences with historical England, with a smooth blend of bright and soft colours to complement composition and style. I like my motifs to show my hand drawn personality with the elements of the paper, upon the surface I have used, together with the effect of digital application, that is applied during process.” –
