We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

How are you preparing for the show?

I’m part of the Forest Foundry Art Collective. I will be exhibiting at Surtex together with 6 other Forest Foundry artists (Katy Tanis, Miriam Bos, Karma Voce, Victoria Weiss, Kat Kalindi Cameron and Neiko Ng). It’s the first time that we are exhibiting at Surtex and we’re all very excited about it. I’ve been preparing for the show ever since we decided to exhibit at Surtex. I’ve been working on new artwork, but also revising existing artwork, I’ve just ordered a 92 page portfolio book with most of my work, I’m still working on my booth banner designs, postcards, swag, promotion. There’s so much to do, but the wonderful thing about doing it as a group is that we can support each other and divide some of the work.

Since it’s my first show I’m not 100% sure what to expect but I do hope to make a lot of new connections that may lead to interesting projects, licensing deals or commission work. And besides the whole business side of the show, it is going to be a fantastic occasion to finally meet lots of fellow ABSPD and MATS graduates in person.

About

IneBeerten-ProfilePicI’m a surface pattern designer from Antwerp, Belgium. I love colour and patterns! I graduated in 2004 and worked as a graphic designer for several years before following my passion for patterns and colour into the wonderful world of surface pattern design. I started out doing surface design as a hobby but quickly realized it was what I wanted to do fulltime. My main focus now is surface pattern design, illustration and hand lettering.
