We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.
We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.
How are you preparing for the show?
I am busily preparing for Surtex. My rep, Sheila Meehan of Meehan Design, and I have talked about what I should focus on in my work for this year and we have decided on greeting cards. Most of the work I have gotten over the years have come from my fun whimsical floral, bird and animal images I have made either for greeting cards or prints done for my Etsy site. I have a goal of making at least 25 new images so I am drawing, cutting, pasting and building my cut paper images for all kinds of birthday, holiday and various other greeting card categories.

About
I am an illustrator/licensed artist as well as an educator. I have worked 30+ years in the creative field illustrating for magazines, books, greeting cards, licensing collections, and fabric. I currently live in St. Louis , MO in a cute house with my designer husband and two devilish boy kitties. I have a daughter who is following in our footsteps and studying art at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I have been with Meehan Design for 7 years and this is our 8th Surtex show together.
