We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

How are you preparing for the show?

Since registering for Surtex in January, I have been extremely busy preparing for the show. Creating more designs was my first goal, but this has become just a small portion of everyday tasks, as there are so many more elements to prepare, such as printing, writing, sending materials, sewing, taking photographs and so on. However, all of the thinking, hard work, and even the stress, make the process very exciting and I think that is a gift that you can have as a first time exhibitor. I am hoping to gain valuable feedback from the diverse audience at Surtex that will apply towards my future work.

About

YunJeongBae_ProfileI am originally from South Korea and I founded Greenmarrow Studio in 2013. After working as a freelance graphic artist, I decided to pursue surface design as my professional career and I never have been happier about what I am doing. My work consists of lyrical nature motifs and playful transformations of familiar objects with mixed media. Currently I am living in Chicago with my husband and, from gardening to traveling, the beauty of everyday life provides my inspiration. I have taken Module 2, 3 and currently taking module 4.
