We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.
We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.
How are you preparing for the show?
This will be my first show and I am so excited about making lots of contacts and starting long term relationships with some of my favorite companies. And I’m just as excited about meeting people from companies I’ve never even heard of as well. I hope I’ll get to sneak out of my booth for a few minutes to see the other amazing artwork from so many artists I’ve come to know and love. I am hard at work creating lots of new art, preparing press kits, designing my booth, printing my portfolio, and sending postcards to companies I’d like to work with. It’s a lot of work, but the SURTEX artist community is so supportive and I’ve had a lot of help along the way!

Tammie Bennett is an artist and designer who loves using bright pops of color and whimsical patterns. She is inspired by her children’s artwork, running on trails and vintage candy shops. She wants to see her art on everything from bolt fabric to children’s books. She has drawn in her sketchbook 554 days in a row. I took the inaugural ABSPD Modules 1-3. That’s where it all began!
