Surtex 2014 Preview: Teresa Woo-Murray from Woo Hoo Design Studio

We are very excited to bring you a series of Surtex previews for the 2014 show taking place on May 18 – 20, 2014 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Surtex is the only show in North America solely devoted to selling and licensing original art and design for all types of products.

We are extremely proud of many of “The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design” e-course students and are pleased to be celebrating their success with them as they prepare for the show.

How are you preparing for the show?

I will be exhibiting for a second time at Surtex this year with several new collections I group under an umbrella name “Adventures By Design” which stems from my love of design from cultures around the globe. Not only is it virtual travel to the corners of the world but also through imaginary transportation to bygone times such as my collection “Time Machine”. It’s a journey to Paris 1893 with a romantic steampunk vibe.

What inspires me is to use all of my senses to hunt and gather from what is around me; visuals, words, dreams, thoughts, music or whatever and I throw all of it into a vessel (my brain/soul), let it ferment and then spit it out. Let the designing begin! That’s how it works for me. Years of design experience and a dash of chaos!
